Counselors were the best ever.  Friendly and good at helping boys be boys and have fun.  Our son respected them and they were great role models.

On-Line Registration A Hit!
smileWe're hearing from you, and we're hearing you smile!   That's right, overall we've heard that parents are enjoying the ease of Susque's new on-line registration system.     From the ease of a simple credit card transaction, to the quickness of getting registration details back via e-mail, the new on-line system has been a hit.   If you haven't heard about our new system, you can read the full article here.  In the mean time, if you have used the on-line system, would you take a moment and tell us how you liked it?   Maybe it was perfect for you, maybe there's something you'd like us to improve on for next year?   We're always working to make registration easier and faster for our valued campers.    And speaking of faster, summer camp is now in full swing, and spaces are filling up fast.  Be sure to check our on-line registration section for updates about which weeks are no-longer accepting registrations, then get your camper registered for a week of fun, fellowship, and Susque hoopla!
Staff Updates!

Camp Director Hired!
The board is delighted to welcome Mike Miosi from Raleigh, North Carolina to come back to the area to serve as our next camp director. Mike grew up in Lycoming County (where Susque is located) through his high school year. Mike later attended Bible college and seminary, served as church planter and pastor, as well as mental health counselor relating to youth and families. Mike has a great attitude and spirit to take on this challenge. We who have begun to know Mike and his wife are excited to have them join the camp family.

Mike will be joined by his wife Kristina and three children: Josiah (8), Kayla (4), and Ella Grace (3).

miosiThese have been challenging months, but made possible by many wonderful volunteers to help bridge the gap along with Shawna Hakes (our faithful office manager) and Ann Swift our long term camp director returning to fill the role as interim director. Thanks to everyone who has helped!

With a great returning summer staff, and new year round staff, we expect a bright future under the gracious hand of our Lord.

Tim Bryant, Chairman, Susque Board of Directors

Nancy is a registered dental hygienist. She has been active in their church and 4-H. Together they have homeschooled their two children. Chad just finished his first year at PSU majoring in Wildlife Technology and Forestry. Hannah also just completed her first year of college and is currently hoping to transfer to Lock Haven University to study Business.

Gary and his family are excited for the opportunity to serve God and join the ministry here.

Program Director Hired
The Board of Directors has approved the selection of Scott Pershall as Susque’s new Program Director.  Scott is a not a new name to Susque.  He has been a popular counselor for Boys Camp, retreats and a support staff worker.  2008 will be his 6th summer at Susque.  We often hear comments from parents about how Scott has been a real friend and excellent role model for their sons.  His friendships extend past the actual camping season.

For the past three years, when not at Susque, Scott has been teaching middle school science and social studies at an American school on the north coast of Africa, encouraged by seeing God work in the lives of students, friends, and coworkers.

The Personnel Committee saw Scott as a person with long-term Susque knowledge and loyalty, good communication skills and the team-player capacity to complete the Susque administrative team.
